Just wrapped up our Babe AVI I course in Breck. Photos to come. Time for the Tele Tune Up this Saturday. Anyone interested. We still have spaces available.

She stepped into her Rubies for the first time. She was a backcountry virgin. Skinning up on the Acent Elle’s she kept up with the group. Christy, had from Amarillo,Texas traveled through a storm cycle to Breckenridge for a weekend geta a way… the Babes in the Backcountry Introduction to the Backcountry Workshop. A confident resort skier and mother of 5, driving an F250, she was excited for the challenge. “They don’t get much snow in Amarillo.”

Recently, Babes sponsored an introduction to the backcountry at the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center. A group of five women spent the first day indoors, reviewing what would happen over the weekend, including information about weather, terrain and avalanche awareness. In the afternoon, they went outside to practice. On day two, after a morning of more planning and prep, they headed out to Loveland Pass.

Redemption. All those dry winters. Well, relatively dry. This winter Breckenridge is getting its fair do. I guess cloud seeding works.

This week, many of you will be transitioning back into “normal” routines and the reflections that come up naturally during the holiday season may be discarded with routines taking over your lives once again.
