Recently, Babes sponsored an introduction to the backcountry at the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center. A group of five women spent the first day indoors, reviewing what would happen over the weekend, including information about weather, terrain and avalanche awareness. In the afternoon, they went outside to practice. On day two, after a morning of more planning and prep, they headed out to Loveland Pass.

Redemption. All those dry winters. Well, relatively dry. This winter Breckenridge is getting its fair do. I guess cloud seeding works.

Happy New Year! Fun Winter Workouts to do in your own home!
By Megan Gates

The holidays are right around the corner and for some of us that means we loose the desire to work out. After a long day at work, its often tough to get to the gym and then have to wait to get on a treadmill or elliptical. Even though there are fewer sunny, warm days to motivate us to go on runs or bike rides, below are a few great workout ideas that you can do in the comfort of your own home.

Holiday shopping, Colorado-style: Tonight is the annual Men’s Shopping Night at Outdoor Divas in Cherry Creek, 2717 East Third Avenue (or head to the Boulder store tomorrow night, 1133 Pearl Street), and these divas have us dudes all figured out: They’ll be plying us with pizza and Oskar Blues brews while we shop for gear for our girls.

Do you’re new boots already look like they have been well loved. Or your well worn boots have significant gouges out of the big toe side. Possibly you might have a case of the Scuff Syndrome. Big Boots, Stiff bindings and Phat skis can demand we alter our skiing technique a tad to avoid carving out the sides of our boots. Although there isn’t much you can do to fix the existing scuffs, you can do something to avoid future outbreaks.

Get into gear this winter at Outdoor Divas. They have a full line up of events/clinics and workshops to help you get dialed in on your winter fitness, skills and motivation. Yes, Inspirational speakers who plan to knock your socks off. Check out there line up. OD is offering a free gift with any purchase. Go on line and shop with this code ( 1133) to receive your free gift. Offer is good until Christmas.
