We require signed assumption of risk agreements and medical forms from all of our participants. Please submit all requested course documents (liability waiver, medical form, etc) at least 2 weeks prior to the the start of the course. Our instructors use this information to prepare to lead quality trips for you. We cannot allow you to participate in a course without having completed our required paperwork.
Our cancellation policy reflects the commitments we make to our guides and the costs we incur when setting up a trip or clinic. In order to keep trip costs low for all participants, we do not build cancellation costs into the prices of our trips. The more notice you can give for a cancelation, the better! If you give us plenty of notice (120+ days) we are able to offer a partial refund. With 10-120 days notice we can offer diminishing partial refunds. With less than 10 days notice, we cannot offer any refunds. Requests to transfer your registration to another trip are treated the same as cancellations because a transfer requires a cancellation as well as reserving a spot in a new course. Please refer to the chart below for details.
If would like a backup plan in case you need to make a cancellation, we recommend purchasing travel insurance. Travel insurance is an excellent way to protect yourself against circumstances that might prevent you from participating in a trip or clinic, and help you cover travel and medical costs associated with getting injured while on a trip. We recommend Global Rescue, a partner of Backcountry Babes: www.globalrescue.com/partner/

Many of our programs take place in remote settings where rescue is difficult and definitive medical care is far away. Additionally, most our our outings require a high level of physical activity for a considerable length of time, often at elevations between 6000-9000ft, and sometimes 9000ft and above. When you register, please fill out our medical form, and let us know about any medical condition, diet, or other need for special accommodation. Please be sure to discuss any relevant details and any updates about your health with your guide or instructor when the trip or clinic begins.
We use the information on our medical form to help facilitate treatment should a problem arise. Thank you for taking the time to thoroughly answer all questions on the medical questions.
