Hosted by Backcountry Magazine & Alpenglow Sports
The 13th annual Lake Tahoe Backcountry Demo Event is back … and bigger than ever! Join us for a new two-day format in partnership with Backcountry Magazine’s Backcountry Basecamp! More information to follow.
The Lake Tahoe Backcountry Demo Event, North America’s largest venue for all things alpine touring, telemark, and splitboard, is back and better than ever this January! We have once again partnered with Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows to bring the Lake Tahoe community its annual chance to try the best backcountry gear of the season. This year, along with Backcountry Magazine, we have raised the bar by adding a second day to the event. Join us on Saturday AND Sunday, January 5-6 from 9am to 3pm for FREE at Alpine Meadows.
The Backcountry Magazine Basecamp event also returns once again for 2019. For more than 20 years, Backcountry Magazine has been committed to educating its community on how to safely travel untracked terrain. This national tour stop, along with resorts in California, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and Vermont, showcases demos, avalanche education, a huge raffle to benefit the Sierra Avalanche Center and guided tours from Alpenglow Expeditions.
Participating vendors will include DPS, Elan, Black Crows, Tecnica, Blizzard, G3, Scarpa, NTN, Salomon, Scott, Marker, Volkl, Twenty-Two Designs, La Sportiva, Voile, Moment, Julbo, Fly Low, Jones Snowboards, and more. Meidjo telemark bindings will also be on hand for demo.
The event is free, but participants must have a valid lift ticket or season pass purchased from Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, along with a driver’s license and credit card for deposit. Registration for the event will occur onsite at the Alpenglow Sports tent on both days of the demo.
