Backcountry Decision Making and Winter Predictions

November 13, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Backcountry Decision Making and Winter Predictions

Hosted by Tahoe Backcountry Alliance

We’re fired up to have our first ever event in Reno at Craft Beer and Wine! And it’s to talk about winter and the backcountry!

Join us for a fun and informative night filled with expert tips and an opportunity to connect with other like minded backcountry skiers, sledders, boarders and snowshoers.

Come at 6 pm to grab a beverage, snacks and best seating… and to make sure you have time to park. The formal presentation will start at 6:30 pm.

We’ll kick off the night with weather predictions from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) meteorologist, Zach Tolby. Then, Steve Reynaud , Sierra Avalanche Center Forecaster and owner of Tahoe Mountain School, will go over how to read an avalanche forecast and discuss what information it provides to help you travel more safely in backcountry terrain. At the end you’ll have a chance to work in small groups with past avalanche reports to discuss the best decisions for a safe day in the backcountry.

Don’t forget to bring some cash for raffle tickets to benefit the Tahoe Backcountry Alliance. It will be filled with swag from our sponsors including Tahoe Mountain Sports, ORTOVOXFlylow GearBlack DiamondMammut, and Julbo Eyewear.

Tahoe Backcountry Alliance’s mission is to serve as the voice for the human powered winter backcountry community in Lake Tahoe.
