DRIVE IN MOVIE: Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Fest

16TH ANNUAL BACKCOUNTRY FILM FESTIVAL DRIVE IN COMES TO Tahoe Art Haus & Cinema

Tahoe City, CA – Calling all “go big or go home” winter enthusiasts! Get ready to get goosebumps while you “Ooh!” and “Ahh!” at the impact and importance of our winter wildlands through this collection of short films. The sixteenth annual Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival will show in Tahoe City on November 6th and 7th via a drive in movie experience at the Tahoe Art Haus Cinema. All proceeds will benefit Backcountry Babes and the Art Haus Cinema.

Backcountry Babes is a women’s backcountry guide service that teaches AIARE avalanche courses, and Beginner Backcountry Tours.  We will be selling Backcountry Babes trucker hats, hoodies, stickers, and more at the event.  We encourage attendees to patronize the Tahoe Art Haus snack bar for popcorn, beverages, beer, wine, and more, as well as to check out their DRIVE IN Cinema TShirts.  We want to support our local cinema in staying open during these hard times.

Movie goers are encouraged to wear warm winter clothes, bring blankets to stay warm in their cars during this special late season Drive In Experience!  We ask that folks stay in their designated parking spots, maintain 6ft of social distance and wear a mask when going inside to purchase snacks/beer.

Produced each year as a celebratory, backcountry community event by the Winter Wildlands Alliance, the 16th Annual Backcountry Film Festival film line-up is full of snowy, cinematic adventure sure to inspire both the local backcountry and general communities. Winter Wildlands Alliance is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving winter wildlands and a quality human-powered snow sports experience on public lands.

By partnering with groups like Backcountry Babes at a local level, the Winter Wildlands Alliance raises funds for these groups and communities through the annual Backcountry Film Festival national tour. All funds raised directly benefit local projects and programs that perpetuate access and stewardship of public lands.

Adventure, environment and climate, youth outdoors, ski culture- you’ll find it all in this award winning lineup.

Films in this year’s program include:

  • LOST – Brody Leven
  • Last Call for Moose Mountain – Joe Fairbanks
  • Awaken [Revelstoke Segment] – Sungod
