Susie Nothnagel

Susie Nothnagel

Susie Nothnagel has lived in Breckenridge for over 25 years and has been an EMT with the Breckenridge Ski Patrol since 1998. She appreciates the different approaches to avalanche terrain, both in doing ski patrol avalanche control work and in backcountry skiing decision making.  Susie has completed her Level 1, Level 2 and Pro 1 Avalanche certifications and loves to apply this education to both the patrol and backcountry mindset.  She loves sharing the beauty of backcountry skiing with others through guiding, instructing and managing groups—all the skills necessary for a fun, safe, successful day in the backcountry.

Susie loves spending time with her husband (also a Breckenridge ski patroller) and her dog, who is trained as an avalanche rescue dog.  Both at work and at play, her favorite place to be is outside in nature. In the winter this means backcountry, downhill and Nordic skiing.  In the summer, she loves long mountain bike rides, alpine hikes and seeking out the best wildflowers. Her motto is “Live life as an experiment” and she is happiest when she is traveling, petting dogs, hugging loved ones and living in the moment.
